Health and Wellness Partnerships
- Overview
- Collaboration
- Research and Resources
Our mission is to enable individuals, families, and communities to achieve optimal health and well-being through accessible education, compassionate outreach, and holistic support services. We are dedicated to fostering healthy lifestyles, reducing health disparities, and promoting physical, mental, and emotional wellness for all. Together, we are advancing our convention toward becoming one of the healthiest faith communities in the nation.
To become a partner, churches (interested individuals) are asked to volunteer.
Becoming a H.O.P.E. Health Ambassador (HA)
To become a partner, churches and interested individuals are encouraged to volunteer and actively promote health and wellness within their faith community. Each participating church or community organization is asked to appoint a Health Ambassador (HA). The HA will work closely with GBSC leadership and fellow partner churches to drive forward collaborative health promotion initiatives.
Collaborate
Collaborate with HOPE Ministry to bring programming, as appropriate, to the interests and needs of the faith community.
Support Your Health Ambassador (HA)
Faith and community partner organizations are encouraged to actively support their identified Health Ambassador’s (HA) involvement in meetings, educational sessions, and training opportunities provided by GBSC - HOPE Ministry —helping to ensure that vital resources are effectively shared and utilized throughout the community.
Historical hesitancies toward research participation among Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) communities have posed significant challenges to recruitment efforts. These hesitations are rooted in a long history of exploitation and unethical practices, such as the Tuskegee Syphilis Study, which has contributed to a deep-seated mistrust of medical research within these communities. Medical experts of every persuasion agree that African Americans share the most deplorable health profile in our nation by far (Washington, H., 2006).
As early as the beginning of civilization, research has been an intriguing part of Christianity's existence. Isaiah 6:8 reads, "Then I heard the Lord's voice saying, 'Whom should I send, and who will go for us?' I said, 'I'm here; send me.'" Both questions are community-based and stem from a need to do research.
We invite you to contact us if you are interested in learning, supporting, and contributing to community-based research initiatives.
