A Servant Leader

Reverend Garry Levy was installed as the 5th President of the General Baptist State Convention of Wisconsin, Inc. (GBSC) in October 2011.
Learning the work of the convention, President Levy has served as the Financial Secretary under the two previous presidents (2001 - 2011). He also served as the Executive Secretary for the Baptist Ministers' Conference of Greater Milwaukee (2002 - 2011).  For the past 11 years, President Levy continues to serve as an instructor for the GBSC-Congress of Christian Education. He currently lectures for courses:  Survey of the Old Testament, and Effective Bible Reading. Levy also just completed a five-year term as Vice President for the Congress of Christian Education.
Reverend Garry Levy serves as the pastor of the True Love Missionary Baptist Church in Milwaukee Wisconsin (2006).  In 1999, he began preaching the Gospel of Jesus at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Milwaukee. Currently, he is a member of the True Heart Missionary Baptist Church, under the pastoral leadership of the Reverend Robert McFarland.
President Levy is committed to serving Christ, the Church and the Convention at the local, state and national levels.  He is highly respected for his faithfulness to his calling to preach and teach God's word.  He is a servant leader.
When asked about his vision for the Convention, President Levy states, "the GBSC will be a community-minded convention seeking spiritual and social justice throughout the state of Wisconsin. I may be the face of the convention, but I am committed to serving and working together to fulfill God's purpose."

A Family Man

President Levy has been married to Dr. Dessie Levy for almost 30 years.  Together, they serve to address local and national issues impacting the spiritual and social justice needs of the community.
Dr. Levy has focused her christian mission on supporting her husband in all capacities of the ministry.  She is active in the church serving as a Sunday School Teacher and advisor for the young women's mission. She has lectured for local and national organizations on issues of spiritual growth, health and wellness and the etiquette of women in the community.
Dr. Levy is Wisconsin's first African American Dean of Nursing. She holds a Bachelor's in Nursing, a Master's in Health Administration and Nursing-Women's Health Nurse Practitioner and a PhD in Education, Leadership and Service.  
Recently, Sis. Levy was honored as one of Wisconsin's outstanding Women of Distinction for her service to the community. 
President & Dr. Levy have been blessed with three children; Tammy (Clenest), Garry, Jr. and Aryahna.  They have five grandchildren: Amani, Elijah, Isaiah, Clenest, III, and Garry, III.
